WHAT SUBJECTS CAN I COMMISSION?
I am currently welcoming all subjects for custom commissions. My most popular requests are animals, landscapes, and recreations of well-loved family photos.

Commissions are formed and influenced by the client's client's ideas, inspirations, reference photographs, or one of my pre-existing works. Sometimes, I am given full creative power and am asked to create without set parameters or guidance.
DO YOU ACCEPT ALL COMMISSIONS?
No. Not all ideas work best for my style. If I think another artist is better suited for what you envision, I will recommend you to them. I accept commissions on a first-come, first-serve basis and retain the right to have blackout dates on my calendar.
HOW DOES THE COMMISSION PROCESS WORK?
In the early interest and planning stages, I talk with prospective clients through the details of what they're looking for regarding style, color(s), and composition in their commission. I offer recommendations concerning scale based on the commission’s intended location while keeping in mind the client’s budget. This process works best if I understand the room’s aesthetic (home or business), the planned location of the work, and after I learn more about the client’s taste. This could mean a scheduled in-person visit or photographs provided by the client.
As the commission evolves,, I communicate with the client regarding the visuals: I send photos of color palettes and sketches to make sure it's headed in the right direction before creating the work itself. For large oil paintings (24” on any side and larger), I create a small draft of the composition, commonly referred to as a study, to allow the client a "first look mock-up' of the intended final piece -- this allows tweaking of the painting to the client's exact liking before working on the final larger work.

I work best when the client offers me their trust to be entirely creative and immerse myself in finding the authentic voice of the work.
I offer photos of the completed piece before sending the final electronic invoice and if a framing service is chosen, again after the work is framed. When the painting is completed, all that is left is waiting for it to dry. After final payment is received, the complete commissioned work is ready for delivery or shipping! It can take an oil painting commission up to six months or more to be completed from initial contact to installation, depending on the work's size and complexity.

WILL THERE BE A CONTRACT?
Yes. A contract will be created and emailed to you, along with the deposit invoice outlining specific terms of the commission for both parties. The contract must be signed by both parties prior to work commencing.
WHAT IS THE TIME FRAME FOR CREATION?
This timeline for impasto paintings can range from eight to twelve weeks (or longer), while works of other mediums can take as little as four weeks.

I can offer you an estimated completion and shipping date once the deposit is received. Currently, there is a four month waitlist for custom commission work. I do not accept rush orders or bump up clients on the list for “extra fees.”
WHAT RIGHTS DO YOU RETAIN AS THE ARTIST?
I reserve the rights to preliminary designs and any incidental works (sketches, photos, studies, etc.) I produce in preparation for the creation of the final piece.
Once the final invoice is paid, ownership of the work is transferred to the client. However I, as the artist, reserve the copyright and reproduction rights of the artwork. Reproduction rights can be transferred to the client during contract creation for an additional cost.

CAN I ORDER PRINTS OF MY COMMISSION?
For an additional fee, prints can be supplied to you to be shared with your friends and family.
Before you receive your completed commission, I will need to transport the piece to be professionally scanned, and then I can order your prints for you in various sizes.

DO COMMISSIONS COME WITH A CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY?
Yes, all commissions come with a physical certificate of authenticity, as well as a collectors folder.

ARE THERE ANY PHYSICAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN AN ORIGINAL AND A COMMISSION?
Original and commissioned paintings utilize the same materials, supplies, and methods. The main difference is the inspiration and intent behind the work.
Commissions are signed on the back in ink, while originals are signed on the front.

ARE COMMISSIONS FRAMED?
Yes, all of my canvas-wrapped oil paintings come with a custom silver or gold floater frame. All works are wired to hang and include bumpers.
​
If you do not want your commission in a silver or gold floater frame, I can deduct the cost of the frame and frame installation from your commission quote. If you decide later on that you would like the work framed in the gold or silver floater frame, the initial quoted cost can be re-added to your contract plus rush-production fees. I am not currently offering alternative framing services.

All other commissions do not come framed.

WHAT IS YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA & PUBLICITY POLICY REGARDING COMMISSIONS?
I share commissions on my social media pages so others can see what I am currently up to!
I reserve the right to share your piece on my social media platforms unless you are opposed (some commissions are highly personal). If this is the case regarding your work, I will respect your wishes to keep it private. I do retain the right to include the commission in my private portfolios.

HOW ARE COMMISSIONS PRICED?
All commission prices are custom and directly depend on the individual work's size, style, material cost, and specifications. If you decide you would like something different after the contract is signed, a contract addendum would be drawn up and signed by both parties. Addendums might incur additional costs.

IS THERE A DEPOSIT, AND IS IT REFUNDABLE?
A 20% deposit is needed to secure a slot on the commission timeline list. The order of the commission list is first-come first-serve based on the received date of the deposit. I will not begin working on the commission until the deposit, and signed contract is received.
The deposit is 100% refundable, and the commission can either be canceled by myself or the client at any point.
Please note that even upon cancellation, I retain the rights to preliminary designs and incidental works made in preparation for the commission, as well as the final commissioned artwork itself no matter what stage of creation it is cancelled during.

WHAT IS THE COST OF SHIPPING?
Shipping costs vary depending on the size, shape, and weight of the commission and the final destination. Works larger than 24" on any side will need to be custom crated and sent via UPS Freight. This price could be upwards of $500.

I offer local delivery to clients in the Midwest within a certain radius of my studio. Please get in touch with me to see if you qualify.
You are always welcome to pick up your work for free directly from my studio.

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT ARE ACCEPTED?
Electronic invoices can be paid with a credit card or PayPal.
I also accept cash and check payments. However, please notify me in advance if this is your intended payment method to ensure there is no delay in shipping your completed commission.
